Post June 8, 2010 Electins

This was created to help keep anyone interested in the hills of Loma Linda informed, resident, user, etc. Now that the "Save Loma Linda" special interest group "owns" every seat on the Loma Linda City Council, we'll get to see what their intentions are with the south hills.

They clearly are not happy with the previous City Council's actions to buy up acreage in the hills to make as an open space preserve because this prohibits any further development with structures out there. They haven't said that they would develop out there, BUT they haven't said that they would be opposed to it either (Ziprick and Christman were both clearly opposed to any kind of residential and commercial development out in the hills, which is why they voted to buy acres of hills to preserve it.)

The next 2 years will be interesting ones. We'll see what they do with the hills...and should they head towards development, rest assured that in the next city council elections (in 2 yrs for Ovi and Rigsby), some names will be changing!

Follow us here so you can keep posted on transactions dealing with our hills. If you come across anything that pertains to the hills, feel free to post or let me know so I can post it here. (My e-mail for this is "iLoveLomaLindaHills@gmail.com").

I just got back from a mtn. bike ride with Roxy and Nabi, and I was thinking that I will do whatever it takes to keep our hills the way they are currently. We bought our home here in Loma Linda mainly for it's proximity to these hills (we could've purchased a larger house in Highland for the same amount of $ back in '95!) and we use the hills daily--I ride my mtn. bike in the AM with the dogs, and Keri and Summer run in the hills with Roxy in the afternoons when it's cool. On Sabbath (Sat) afternoons, you'll often see a large group of about 4 or 5 families hiking in the hills with close to 20 kids running on the trails, exploring.

That is why I will keep an eye on our LL City Council to preserve the hills they way the are!
